English Composition: A Good Deed

Final Draft

A Good Deed

One Afternoon, Tom and Mary were chatting mirthfully under the blistering hot sun. The birds are chirping cheerfully overhead. Tom and Mary were discussing their next project in school.

On their way home, they saw an old lady struggling with her heavy groceries on a busy road. Many cars zoomed past her dangerously. She was trying to cross a busy road. Mary said, “I think we should help her.” Tom agreed with what Mary had said. They ran up to the lady and said, “How can we help you?”

The old lady replied “Would you mind helping me to carry my groceries please?” Tom and Mary nodded excitedly. Tom carried the groceries while Mary held her hand while they walked towards the traffic light.

The old lady was glad and thanked both of them profusely for being so kind to her. She said, “If you didn’t help me I won’t be able to cross the road safely.”

They crossed the road finally. Tom and Mary offered their help to walk her home as the basket was too heavy. On the way, Tom’s mother called and asked him where he was. He told his mother that he was helping an old lady. His mother teared with joy upon knowing on what they did.

Tom and Mary were filled with gladness as they went home for helping an old lady. They finally know what “Kindness begets kindness” really means.
